The Meet the Dean programme is a regular culture imbibed within the Faculty of Law, Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko every academic session whereby both the students and the dean, along with other representing officials of the faculty deliberate on salient matters that are affecting the students and the faculty at large, as well as the plausible means to address them. The Meet the Dean Programme for the 2022/23 session, like the previous events, is a merge of two sessions; the dissolve and inauguration of the officials of the Executive Councils and the Legislative Representative Council (LSRC) of the past and new administrations respectively, and the original tagged name of the programme, that is, a direct interactive session between the students and the Dean.
The meeting on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 commenced exactly at 12:30 p.m. with the event opening formalities duly acknowledged in the following order; Fowowe Adetomiwa( former PRO) anchored the program, Sharon Obawunmi (the newly inaugurated General Secretary) took the opening prayer, and the LSS Anthem taken by Eniola Omowunmi. Shortly after, accompanied by Prof. Dinakin, the dean came in at exactly 12:33 p.m.
Subsequently, the executives and the administration of the departments were formally introduced to the new members of the society in the persons of Prof. Oke (Dean of the Faculty of Law), Mrs. Kekere (Sub-Dean), and Prof. Dinakin. Later on, the outgoing president of the society, Adesina Oluwamayowa, was invited to deliver his final speech. In the process, he summarily backtracked on the achievements and shortcomings of his administration and alluded to the factors and circumstances that impacted such outcomes.
At 12:37 p.m., the President inducted the newly elected executives, and the recitation of the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance was done by the latter. Alternatively, the former executives were officially dissolved and relieved of their duties to the society. The newly inducted President, Adelaju Amos, was thereafter invited to give his opening speech as the new head of the Students' Society.

At 1:04 p.m., The Dean mounted the podium and formerly introduced Prof. Dinakin; a one-time lecturer at the University of Lagos, Ekiti State University and the first dean of Faculty of Law, Adekunle Ajasin University respectively, and equally recognized his immense contribution to the academic growth of the faculty till the present moment. The Dean reintroduced the accompanying faculty representatives and carried on with a pithy address on the reputable standards, culture, and trainings upheld and acquired as a member of the noble faculty.
He also offered some words of encouragement to the students, emphasizing the necessary values and conduct acceptable to the faculty. Notable things he mentioned were: adherence to the faculty dress code, payment of school fees, nontolerance for examination malpractice and the faculty refraining from organising make-up tests for defaulting students. Prof. Denakin equally emphasized the impropriety not condoned by the faculty.
As the meeting progressed further, the floor was opened to students to ask questions.
Owoyemi Temiloluwa, a 300-level student, opened the floor with two questions; the non-availability of students' ID cards and the state of the lecture theaters (Somassa LTs) newly assigned for lectures. The dean, in response, linked the ID card issues to the university, a matter beyond the confines of the faculty, but encouraged the concerned students to submit their names to the faculty.
Also, Akinmoji David, a 200-level student, questioned the abrupt end to the instalmental payment of school fees. The dean attributed the situation to the lack and reduction of funds received by the university during Akeredolu's tenure as Ondo State Governor. Another 400-level student, Adepoju Emmanuel, spoke on the non-release of the students' results and the possibility of allowing the students to check their results directly from the lecturers. In negation, the dean replied that the checking of results prior to the university's senate's approval is against the university's policy.
Lastly, the Dean, in affirmation, spoke on the introduction of new courses to the faculty, such as international trade law, legal writing and research, food and agricultural law, power and electricity law, etc. in response to Akin-ademola Emmanuel, a 100-level student's question about the significant changes in the legal profession. He also addressed the issue of non-correlating results as put forward by Adegboyega.
In preparation for the faculty activities, it was announced that the faculty will formally welcome the 100-level students by hosting a cocktail, and the date for the event will be subsequently passed across to them.
Finally, the meeting was brought to a close at 2:25 p.m. with Omole Damilare, the current Public Relations Officer, making the closing remarks.
