JUST IN: THE LSRC HIRES THE EQUITY PRIVATE CHAMBER TO SECURE INTERIM INJUNCTION AGAINST THE PROPOSED INAUGURATION OF THE NEWLY APPOINTED BOJ MEMBERS AS DECIDED IN THE CONGRESS

In an attempt to halt the proposed inauguration of the members of the Body of Justice (BOJ) purportedly appointed and ratified by the President of the society, Adelaju Amos, during the session of the Congress publicly held yesterday, June 15, 2023, the Law Students' Representative Council (LSRC) has sought the legal service of the Equity Private Chamber to obtain an interim injunction against such action.

Following the Congress, it is worthy of note that the legislative arm of the Students' Society issued a public broadcast demanding the president to revert and retrace his steps, and annul the purported appointment of a 400-level student as justice, describing such abrupt action without the notice of the LSRC as a 'clownery move' and an insidious attempt to manifestly usurp the power of the arm. In lieu of this, they drew the minds of the public specifically to the provisions of 39(2), 33, and 52(F) of the LSS Constitution, 2020, which provide for the power of the Congress, the appointment and composition of justices, and the eligibility of members of the Body of Justices, respectively.

In tandem with the aforementioned, the LSRC claimed, as relayed expressly in the broadcast, that the annulment of such a purported appointment would tend towards maintaining the hallowed sacredness and integrity of the Body of Justice, which, as provided by the constitution, should be adequately occupied with eligible members of the society, as "no legality would thrive on illegality". The arm as well, advised the president to familiarize himself more with the constitution for a more comprehensive understanding of the extent of his powers.

However, no response has been given by the President since the broadcast was issued out.

In such respect, this morning, it is rumored that an application exparte has been filed by Equity Private Chamber, on behalf of the LSRC, and awaiting determination at the Student Judicial Council.
