Interview

LK: What motivated you to pursue a law degree?

FOTW: My uncle is a lawyer. When I was a teenager, I used to follow him for some court sittings and watched in wonder how they’d argue in legal jargons. Each time I went I kept saying to myself “I want to be like this big guys”. So yeah, here I am

LK: Which area of law are you particularly interested in and why?

FOTW: Real estate law…there’s money there!

LK: Could you describe a challenging situation you faced during your studies and how you overcame it?

FOTW: Law of Contract in 200-level, second semester. I remember Dr. Ojomu launching four topics a week before the examination. I kept deceiving myself that he just taught them to fulfil all righteousness and it won’t come out. Lo and behold! They were the first three questions to come out in exam. I don’t know how I channeled the inner Akinola Aguda in me. I just wrote my best and left the rest to God. Thank God the result favoured me.

LK: Can you share a memorable experience or accomplishment during your time at our law faculty?

FOTW: It was not me per say, but the first time Gani Fawehinmi chambers took the first position during the moot and mock competition. For someone that hardly goes for chamber meetings, I did not allow anyone around me rest! I kept bragging and bragging about it.

LK: Are there any specific courses or professors that have had a significant impact on your legal education?

FOTW: Law of Torts. The mere fact that even the smallest mistake or negligence could amount to an offence was something I needed to know. Then the way Mr Adegbite kept stressing on some topics. In fact let me get my wig and gown first.
