LLB 2 vs LLB 1: Second Leg

(Wednesday, 27 September)

It was indeed a memorable moment, to experience the two teams clash on the field once again, with both sides prepared to secure a win. For LLB 2, it was a double battle— a struggle for a comeback having being thrashed in the first leg with a scoreline of 3:1. It was a defeat that broke their spines and left a sore bruise on their ego after series of brags preceding the match. However, for LLB 1, it was another graceful opportunity to engrave their marks of victory on the history of the festival.

It got the audience to wonder? Would the tide of the game change for LLB2?

Prior to the kick-off, the match was delayed due to notable reasons, one of which is the unavailability of some LLB 2 players who were allegedly delayed by the on-going Faculty Inter-chamber Moot and Mock Competition. This continued until a threat of walk over was issued out by the referee.

Eventually, the football match started exactly at 4:16pm after series of altercation as to the time (15 minutes) allotted for the game. This was objected to by LLB 2 objected, and an extension of time was granted.

LLB 2 had a good starting in the first half of the match, having dominated with passes and dribbles which eventually led to an enthralling goal from Gbade(9). Not long after the jubilation,  LLB1 sent a calming shot into the LLB 2 net. It was a shot from Israel assisted by Dani FX, and it was an equalizer. The first half ended by 4:31pm after which LLB 2 expressed their displeasure as regards the time given for the match.

The second half started, and without wasting much time, LLB 1 took over the field and managed their midfield to the disadvantage of LLB2. Having awarded a corner kick, LLB 1 was able to convert it into a goal owing to LLB2 weak defence at the goal post. It was a goal from Israel again!

The match ended at 5pm with an aggregate of 5:2, and it marked the exit of LLB2 from the 2023 LSS Sports Festival's football league. Whereas, for LLB1, it was a progress unto the next stage of the game.

Having qualified to the next stage, LLB1 will be playing against LLB3 in the next match fixture.
