LK : Good day, kindly introduce yourself to us please.
FOTW: I am Amina Sulaimon, a 400 level law student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko. I currently serve as the Senior Partner of International Law Department, Equity Private Chamber and Vice President, Intellectual Property Law Club, AAUA.
I am a lover of research and movies. I am also an ardent believer of "whatever is worth doing at all is also worth doing well". This saying has shaped my way of life till date.
LK: Why did you choose law as a course of study?
FOTW: I did admit I chose law initially out of confusion. However, as time went by, I began to love it as a course and definitely want to build a career in it.
LK: Is there any area of law you’re interested in and why?
FOTW: Yes. I love International Law. My passion in this field was sparked by the experience I had in researching and drafting memorials on it. Moreover, it looks interesting being an aspect of law that governs the relationship between countries.
LK: I understand that law can be stressful sometimes , what keeps you going?
FOTW: My Passion and Vision. Since the interest is there and I also aim for a goal, they keep me going in times of difficulties.
LK: What are your expectations for the legal profession both in Nigeria and internationally?
FOTW: The legal profession can only keep getting better. There are various emerging areas in law due to the transformations facing the world which are yet to be fully explored. So far it keeps advancing with these changes, the legal profession will keep being relevant and better.
LK: If not law, what else?
FOTW: Probably, International Relations.
LK:With the current state of the country, do you think there is a place for you to practice in the field you love?
FOTW: Yes, I believe so. In as much as I keep developing myself in the area and maximize opportunities that comes my way, there will also be a place for me notwithstanding the challenges facing the country.
LK: do you have any advice for upcoming law students?
FOTW: Remaining focused is the key. There are lots of distractions but the ability to discipline oneself and keep the path clear, the better.
