The Congress started at exactly 01:57am with Mr. Ogunfeyimhi Gboyega taking the opening prayer as directed by the President. The LSS AAUA anthem was then sung by the whole house, this was led by Miss. Arafat.
The President pronounced the next agenda to be the reading of the minutes of the last meeting by the General secretary, Miss. Simbo which was thereafter adopted by Honourable Hanif and seconded by Senator Busolami.
The Intellectual Property Law Club(IPLC), AAUA thereafter had a presentation which was led by Miss. Titomi.
Miss. Itanrin Eniola spoke on the benefits of Intellectual Property as it relates to our day to day life and also on the aspects of Intellectual Property.
Miss. Titomi made it pertinent to note that the IPLC wasn't restricted to law students alone but that it also covers a wide range of courses such as criminology amongst others.
The next agenda was then the deliberation of the dinner due which the President proposed to be #17,000 his reasons given the current state of the economy in the country. This aroused several reactions from the house.
The first reactor was Mr. JoelMilk, a 400lvl student who noted that inasmuch as he understood where the President was coming from, he would opt for a reasonable reduction as getting money wasn't easy.
The second reactor was Miss. Ogunkeye Opeyemi, a 500lvl student who noted that the President hasn't provided a reasonable reason as to why #17,000 which she termed 'outrageous' is to be paid. She also said it was high time Lssites started to cut their coats according to their sizes. She moved a motion for the reduction of the money to #13,000
The next reactor was Mr. Owoeye Temiloluwa who said the President cannot depend only on the money the Lssites would pay but he should look for a way to source for money as he is the President for a reason. He proposed that the money be reduced to #15,000.
The next reactor was Mr. Samuel(samowise) from 500lvl who demanded to know the location of the dinner so the proposed price would be reasoned along with Mr. President.
The next reactor was the erstwhile LSS President, Alaafin who said though he understands how things are and where the President is coming from, the President has not convinced the house why exactly they should pay the proposed amount.
Another reactor, Mr. Aribisala Matthew from 400lvl reasoned along with the President, says the economy isn't smiling. He proposed a reduction to #15,000.
Yet another reactor, Miss. Flourish says deep down most Lssites had #15,000 in mind and that amount would be fair enough if the dinner holds in Akure but if it'll be done in Ikare or Owo, the price should be reduced to #13,000.
There were other reactors who basically were bargaining for the reduction of the proposed price to the barest minimum and others also demanding to know the location of the supposed dinner.
After all the reactions from the house, Mr. President said the proposed venue was either Akure or Owo and the only hotel that can be used if Owo is picked is Midas and to book this hotel is about 1.5Million naira and this is why that price was proposed.
A motion was then raised for the reduction of the proposed price.
Miss. Ogunkeye Opeyemi raised a motion for #13,000
And Mr. Owoeye Temiloluwa raised a counter motion for #15,000.
A vote was then conducted by the General secretary of which 15 persons were for #15,000 and 22 persons were in support of #13,000.
The dinner due was then pegged at #13,000 by the President as he implored LSSites to pay up on time and also their LSS dues.
The next agenda was then the AOB.
Mr. Samuel(samowise) opened the floor by stating the disorderly outlook of the Students' lounge as regards the broken chairs and tables and littered floors. He encouraged the Excos to take responsibility as they were leaders for a reason and to work to ensure that place becomes orderly.
The next speaker was Alaafin who also expressed his concerns as regards the Students' lounge, he described it as "terrible" and sees it as the duty of the President and the Excos to make sure it is put into place.
He says it's disheartening that the project of the previous administration was not managed well and he has infact prepared a petition against the Executives as regards this and if no change is implemented, he would go ahead to submit the petition.
He also debunked the rumours that he stole a million naira and says it is defamation of character which is a criminal offence, says he has reported to appropriate authorities and he wouldn't take it lightly with anyone with defames his person.
The next speaker was O.I Akeredolu who said Alaafin wasn't in the right place to be talking about maintenance of the Students' lounge or not as he wasn't well accountable for the properties in his care when he was in office as when he was handing over the properties were either in shambles or not found and all disorganized.
The next speaker was Apostle Paul who said the A.G's excuse for the mismanagement of the Students' lounge wasn't reasonable.
The next and last speaker was Mr. Gboyega who stated that some policies made in LSS are not resourceful like the 'face of the week'. Says the face of the week shouldn't just be given to just anyone but a reasonable rationale should be put in place to make sure that someone who has done something of repute during the week should be used.
In reaction to the first two speakers in the AOB session, the President gave his word that the condition of the Students' lounge would be taken care of.
The closing prayer was then taken by Senator Iseoluwa and at exactly 3:29 pm, the meeting was brought to a close.
