Legal Kekenke's Face of the Week is Adamolekun Bernice.

Interview by Lkite Gold. 

In this interview, Bernice shares with us her experience as a law student and how she has been able to combine being a law student and an entrepreneur.

LK: Please introduce yourself to us.

FOTW: I am Adamolekun Bernice Odunayo, a 500 level law student at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

LK: How would you describe yourself?

FOTW: I would say I'm a business oriented person, a blend of passion and fun. I'm quite creative too.

LK: Could you interest us in some of your hobbies or what you do during your free time?

FOTW: I crochet. It's both my business and my hobby. I also hang out with my best friend. I'm an extrovert so I really love dressing up and going out. I like listening to music, seeing movies and reading. 

LK: Combining your crochet business with being a law student, has that been easy?

FOTW: Yes, I take time out for myself. When it's overwhelming, I focus on school. My business would always be there, law on the other hand has a five year limit. That's what works for me, knowing when it's enough.

LK: Why did you choose to study law?

FOTW: A lot of people saw the potential in me and eventually, I began to see it too. If I was to continue with my education, law was my best option and here I am.

LK: How has law been so far? Has it been what you expected?

FOTW: Law has been more than I expected, actually and it has honestly been as difficult as it was supposed to be. It's interesting now. I'm a naturally curious person and I love learning new things especially extra curricular law. I've fallen in love with my biggest problem (law).

LK: Are you involved in any extra curricular law activity and if yes, how have you been able to balance that with your studies?

FOTW:Yes, I'm a Lord of the Equity Private Chamber as well as a semi-active member of the Gani Fawehinmi Public Chamber and they don't clash with my studies which is quite good. It's easy to balance and I'm one for learning outside the classroom.

LK: It's evident that law is not an easy course. Even on those days when you're overwhelmed, what keeps you going? What's your motivation not to give up?

FOTW:The fact that I already began. I'm not a quitter. I like to see things through, and that's what I'm doing with law. I'm almost at the end so, why not.

LK: Is there anyone you look up to in the legal field as a role model?

FOTW: Barrister Mrs. Lawrencia Udofot. She's the lawyer I've known for the longest time and she inspires me till this day.

LK: As a final year law student, what's your advice to your junior colleagues?

FOTW: It's a person who is alive that can study law and that's the very truth. Do what you can and leave the rest; live, don't put your life aside for a course of study. Love and be loved; give and receive. Pray and keep your hope alive. It seems like LLB is the farthest thing till it's right at your fingertips so love yourself and prioritize your mental health. At the same time, never underestimate the importance of reading after every class, it is what has really helped me so far.
