AN OVERVIEW OF THE MEET THE DEAN PROGRAM HELD ON THE 12TH OF FEBRUARY 2025.
The meeting started with an opening prayer led by Bridget, a 200-level Student. After which an introduction of the staff on the high table was done by the LSS Public Relations officer.
The Dean of the faculty, Prof. Olubayo Oluduro opened the meeting by welcoming the 100L students and encouraging them to work hard towards excellence. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing academics, shunning misconduct, and adhering strictly to the faculty dress code. He also highlighted the faculty organogram and encouraged students to interact with lecturers and also support the faculty.
Dr. Akin Oluwadayisi, a senior lecturer in the faculty addressed global issues affecting students, including academics, assignment submissions, and plagiarism. He emphasized the importance of the faculty dress code and cautioned against misconduct, including lack of decorum, impunctuality, and dishonest acts. He also emphasized the importance of respect for seniority.
He thereafter announced the name of Course Level advisers for each level in the faculty
Course Level Advisers:
- 100L: Dr. Mrs. Olateru-Olagbegi and Mrs. Ajidashile
- 200L: Dr. Mrs. Adewusi-Bakare and Dr. John Akinselure
- 300L: Barr. Mimiko and Barr. Godfree Matthew
- 400L: Dr. Akin Oluwadayisi
- 500L: Barr. Omotan Ogunmodede
The erstwhile Dean of the faculty, Prof. Olugbenga Oke Samuel congratulated the 100L students and commended the LSS executives. He emphasized the importance of trusting lecturers and encouraged students to work hard and develop good character. “Education is an opportunity for all,” he said.
The Sub-Dean, Mrs. Mohamed also congratulated the 100L students and encouraged them to utilize their opportunities. She addressed exam procedures; the do's and don'ts before and during the examination.
The Faculty Officer thereafter advised all students who are yet to submit their files in the faculty to do so, as monetary penalties shall apply for late submission.
During the meeting, two student concerns were raised. Firstly, Oluwapelumi Johnpaul, a representative of the 100 level students, brought to the attention of the gathering that some students in his level had yet to receive their matriculation numbers.
Additionally, Adesina Blessing, a 200 level student, expressed his dissatisfaction with the delay in uploading the results of some courses in his level.
In response to these concerns, the Dean directed the students to the Sub-Dean for further assistance and resolution.
The meeting was formally adjourned with a closing prayer, which was led by Mr. Ikuesan Neyin Lucky, a 400-level student. This followed the vote of thanks, which was delivered by the Public Relations Officer (PRO).
